Digital Mirror currently supports Gmail and select versions of Microsoft Outlook. If you are a Microsoft Outlook user, Digital Mirror requires Microsoft Outlook 2002, 2003,
2007, or 2010 (32-bit)* to be installed.
* While Digital Mirror should work with the 32-bit version of Outlook 2010, please be aware that this new version has not been tested as thoroughly as the other supported versions of Outlook. Digital Mirror will not currently work with the 64-bit version of Outlook 2010. Q.
A. We intend to make Digital Mirror available for more email and social media platforms. If you would like to tell us what you would like in the future, please use the platform selection button on our download page or send us feedback. We would be happy to hear from you. Q.
A. Digital Mirror relies on getting mail from Google using the IMAP protocol, and is subject to Google's restrictions on the usage of IMAP (bandwidth limits, etc.).
Google's IMAP help page More detailed information from Google To the best of our knowledge, Gmail currently has a fairly generous daily download limit. Given that Digital Mirror does not download the attachments in your emails, which generally account for a significant amount of space, it is fairly unlikely the usage limits will present a problem. In the unlikely event that the amount of your email exceeds the daily download limits, your data will be partially downloaded into Digital Mirror. In subsequent runs, assuming a minimum of a 24-hour interval between Digital Mirror runs, the remaining emails will be downloaded in one or more additional batches. Q.
A. Yes, in our experience, you can always access your Gmail account via Gmail's web interface (mail.google.com/mail). Please refer to the next question and answer with respect to accessing your Gmail account via third party software (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird). Q.

A. If you are running Digital Mirror on personal data, please note that this version is optimized for analysis of data in a work or other organizational context. For personal data, it is possible that you may find some of the results less interesting or relevant.
Even if that is not the case, people are sometimes puzzled by the results Digital Mirror presents. But these results are firmly based on the data: if you see something unexpected, it is likely to be because your data suggests something different than your perception. We strongly recommend that you look into the data yourself. In many cases, you can do this by clicking on the specific result in the visualization to bring up an evidence panel that shows some examples that led to the conclusion. In our experience, in the vast majority of cases, the data will support the Digital Mirror result. The challenge is to see yourself as Digital Mirror and others see you. If you have tried and still believe the result is wrong, please let us know. |
